Shortly before noon on Tuesday, members of the Joppa-Magnolia Volunteer Fire Company were responding to a call in the 1000 block of Pulaski Highway, leading to the fateful crash, according to the agency.

Approximately a half hour later, with lights and sirens activated, the truck was involved in a crash with a vehicle near the intersection of Hanson Road at Woodbridge Center Way in Edgewood, leaving the first responders in a lurch.

Four firefighters onboard the truck involved in the crash had to wait until Baltimore Gas and Electric could turn off the electricity, then they went to work using the Jaws of Life to free a pinned person, who was taken to the University of Maryland Upper Chesapeake Health by paramedics in stable condition, officials say.

Following the crash, Hanson Road was closed between Woodbridge Center Way and Lake Avenue.

The crash is now being investigated by the Harford County Sheriff's Office.
